Melbourne Zoo visit 11-9-08
Old 08-09-2008

Hi, as l have many times requested others to report or photograph particular exhibits at zoos.

Time to "pay back" I am off to the Melbourne Zoo on Thursday. Taking my just 3 year old nephew for his third visit. Hoping for good weather!!

Any requests?

Any news on what is happening with the Gorillas would be interesting. Has silverback 'Rigo' mated with any female(s) and if so, which? If not, what are they planning to do now?

And the baboon exhibit which i saw about a month ago and i have to say has improved because natural substrate has been put on half of it and it was jampacked with enrichment as usual. I'm not saying it is great, just better.

I have heard talk about making another axhibit for tigers so that they can keep more then one pair at a time. But it sounded more like a thing that will happen in a while and not any time soon.

I think they're more concerned about getting the new aquatic development completed first. How is all that going? I haven't made it out there since the start of the year..

I went on the first day of school holidays and it looked like the seal pool will be extremely deep because the hole was huge and i've seen 6 times while it's been under construction and this was the first time i've seen people working on it.
