But I think most of us respected his passion for wildlife conservation and his efforts to bring these issues to the masses ?

Did you see the interview he did with Andrew Denton a few years back ? (I think they replayed it this year after Steve died) ... I thought it showed the man exactly how he is - a passionate, enthusiastic, friendly idiot who honestly cares about wildlife. I actually began to like the guy after I saw that original interview a few years back.

(I must admit I'm not a fan of the antics, but I did begin to respect him and what he achieved that so many others before him couldn't).

... but then I had a soft spot for Harry Butler too - although that's probably a bit far back for some of our younger members !!

Yes, I'd forgotten about Harry Butler.

I loved the way he would casually walk up and lift a rock or piece of bark, and, hey presto, there would be a snake or a gecko just waiting for him!

Old 18-08-2007

hey guys,
just found this report from Bankok

Bangkok Post : General news

its basically an article talking about new tougher regulations regarding the export of Elephants from Bankok and surrounding areas.

looks like tis going to incredibly hard for Australia Zoo to get any Asian Elephants from that part of the world

Carefully placed there by an Assistant Producer just before filming began. And usually placed in a refregirator(fridge) first to cool its temperature, thus making it sluggish and unable to flee when the bark was lifted...
