Greetings from the outback!
Old 15-03-2008

I've been lurking here for a little while and I finally pushed myself to join, well I joined a while ago actually but couldn't do much due to activation problems (thank you for fixing it Sim).

Anyway I live in Alice Springs, Australia where the sun always shines because.. well I technically live in a desert, I would love it to rain more often than it does. My home zoo is the Alice Springs Desert Park where I'm currently I volunteer at and yeah anything else about me is confidential =P

Nice to meet you all

Thanks everyone and yeah the desert park is great (not just saying that because I live near it) it's definetly one of the more specialised zoos out there focusing on only the fauna, botany and culture of arid Australia. So if you ever decide to do a tour around the NT make sure it's second on your list after Uluru

Welcome on the forum!

If and when I make it to Australia and New Zealand sometime in the next few years ... Uluru and Alice Springs are 1 prime destination. So, I sure will stop over at the Desert Park too (just to get a grip on the NT flora and fauna).

Ah cool just remember to climatize yourself because it can get pretty hot down here, best months for weather are probably between March to May and August to November. Funny you are from holland because I had a holiday there a couple of months ago, I Absolutely loved the Apenheul

Do not worry I may have red skin, but I am an aridland man (having trod in desert country in the Middle East for quite some time).

Re Holland; it is a small world is it not? When were you down here?

Ah ok that's good then, I've had visitors from europe (and the southern regions of Australia) complain about the heat most of the time they were here.
Yeah it is indeed a small world; when I said a couple of months though it is in fact nine months since I've been there but it seems not that long ago. I was there visiting my relatives - yups I'm a dutch aussie hybrid =P
