Hello from the city of Angels!!!
Old 15-07-2008

Well, when I first joined Zoobeat I didn't introduce myself, so here it is.

First of all, my name is Mario, I am 18 years old and I live in the city of El Monte, California in Los Angeles County, which is about 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and 30 minutes from the Los Angeles Zoo. I enjoy going to the zoo, but I mainly go to the Los Angeles Zoo every saturday to volunteer in the wonderful enrichment program the zoo has. In the enrichment program we make sure that every animal at the zoo has enrichment at all times, it doesn't matter if they are on or off exhibit. With this program we help the zookeepers which most of the time don't have the time to do enrichment for the animals, so some of us go on exhibit while the zookeeper is cleaning the exhibit to set up enrichment. Ok, my favorite animal at the zoo has to be the snow leopards, the hornbills, the african wild dogs, and the mountain tapirs. Oh, and this is a wonderful forum!!

Hornbills and mountain tapirs?!? They're my favourites too! I have many pictures of the tapirs at LA zoo, and the gerenuk and Eastern giant eland, but could you upload a few of their sulawesi wrinkled hornbills (aceros cassidix) for me?

Welcome aboard!

I only have one pic of the hornbills, because it's hard to take pics of them, but sure I will post it. I'll try to get more pics next saturday.

Oh, the zoo lists the hornbill as Red-knobbed Hornbill, but it's the same one.
