Hello. I am new to this forum and wasn't paying much attention when I joined so please tell me how I can post and read threads on new and exiting zoo related topics.

Hello Rachnos,

What is your favourite animal. Are you perhaps into birds like hornbills and Cranes or mammals e.g koalas and Cows?

I am into many different animals such as wombats, tapiers and yaks (I love their hairy coats against my fingers!!!)

I've seen on your profile. Rachnos, that you have seen lesser spotted kod kods. Could you explain what one of these is and describe their mating rituals as I am putting together a presentation about animal courtship for science.

Sorry I got mixed up between a rusty spotted cat and a Kod kod. Has Chester kept either of these species?

Fodders I don't know any animal's courtship behaviour. Sorry.

It's OK, everyone makes mistakes.

Regarding Yak, where have you been able to 'feel their hairy coats against your fingers'? I thought that only west Midlands safari park had them, and you cannot get too close to them there.....

Actually, it was dead when I stroked it on a wall in a hunters cabin in China. Its hairy coat was soft as it was above the fire.

Are the Yak native to any other country than china?

Well, I joined this forum over a month ago and since then you may find that I have posted many threads and replies. Some may seem intimidating, maybe a little strange, but as you will soon find, under my harsh exterior I am a fun loving zoo fanatic who posts many serious and interesting comments and facts as well as having some fun along the way. What about you? Are you liking the forum so far?
