Are there any plans for more species in the African plains? It seems quite a good sized area, and I would've thought at least one more species would be possible.

Right at the bottom of the hill. From the main entrance you just walk up a few steps and look straight ahead.

Recent births at the zoo include a female Japanese serow, great news there considering the herd was devastated by disease from 2.4 to 1.1 in the space of a month, so this is brilliant news.
0.0.1 Chinese grey goral
0.0.1 Malayan mouse deer again a very important birth a first for RZSS and important to the EEP as the female was imported from Singapore.
hammerkop and violaceous touraco have hatched chicks too
Malayan tapir female due around October.

Good news all round, but I'm very pleased about the chevrotain, because I got some nice photos of her this summer (which I must now process and post asap).

Have the rhea and vicuna moved from the large field at the top of the zoo? Is anything left in there now?
