I've created several new forums which are populated automatically with new posts from RSS News feeds from various sites (so far I've got Google News, Yahoo! and ABC NewsRadio).

Some of the news (particularly from Google) might be off-topic, since it does a simple keyword search for the word "zoo", which might be used in other contexts occasionally. If you find a post like that in the news feeds, just use the "report this post" option (the little red triangle with the exclaimation mark on it down the bottom left of the post) to report it to me, and I'll delete it. I'll also keep an eye out myself and tidy up any off topic threads there.

You can't start any new threads in those news forums, but you can reply to the posts - so if something interesting comes up, feel free to comment on it by replying to the news post.

NOTE: by default you won't see the posts in the news feed section in your "New Posts" or other searches ... you have to explicitly opt-in to see them. Here's how:

Step 1: visit your user control panel (User CP link at the top of the page), and click on the "Group Memberships" link under Miscellaneous at the bottom of the Control panel links down the left:

Step 2: select the "Join Group" option for the "Opt-in to news feeds" user group, and then click on the "Join Group" button:

You should now see the news feeds in your search results. You can leave the group at any time by following the same process and selecting "Leave Group"

If you find the information in one of the feeds of little value and prefer to only view topics started by humans - I've also implemented a new feature allowing you to opt-out of forums for the New Posts / Today's Posts searches. Please see the Opt Out of Forum Updates post for more information about how this works.

I just realized that the RSS in the San Diego Blog Area hasn't updated it in two weeks, but they have new posts on the website
