One Final Edit

Right, due to this thread coming up after a while, I made one final edit of my plan (yes, I know it's like the 4th time i've said that! )





Some notes:

- Philippine Area: Spotted Deer and Warty Pigs share paddock. Tarictic Hornbills have nearby aviary.

- Asian Plains: "Monkey" are Rhesus Macaques which have access to the plains from monkey islands (they replace the spider monkeys, which move to arara lawn)

- Warthogs/Mongoose alternate outdoor area with Aardvarks

- Colobus have access to gorilla enclosure via a similar method to London (without the fake tree)

- Anoa have an enclosure built on RoRA lawn

- Spider Monkeys and Bush Dogs have seperate enclosures on Arara lawn.

- Cassowary have enclosure built on lawn outside Islands in Danger

(this whole thread is too addictive!)

I've really changed my mind about some of my ideas too. I don't think I want them to get Giant pandas, so swap that for snow leopard.

It is almost impossible for them to keep pandas, any way, what about those romurs about Edinburgh zoo geetin giant Panda

It's not impossible for a zoo to exhibit pandas as long as they can stump up the $10,000,000 fee and chinese officials accept the willing zoo's facilities.

If a zoo the size of chester really wanted pandas, they would have little trouble getting them. However, it is wise (especially with the current economic climate) to focus any spending on the current collection or gradual improvements. It's not like they need the boost in visitor numbers anyway...

I would certinly move the congo buffalo, red river hogs, bongo and okapi together in an enclosure and make an african plains exhibit/

The Calafornian Sealions are replaced by Pantagonian Sealions and a small group of Commersons Dolphin are Introduced into the enclosure

No chance...

If you've ever seen the sealion pool, you'll know it's not big enough for dolphins AND sealions (not even suitable for dolphins at all).

just came across this thread, how about using the large grassy paddock for gorillas, the one which is currently used for gemsbok, etc obviously climbimg structures would be added and new indoor facilities built.

Exactly right, plus it would in my opinion it would ruin the west side of the zoo, which is one really nice walk with paddocks stretchng out everywhere.

Gorillas are coming, when is anyones guess, and they will not be kept in a large grassy field. Pandas are not coming. Ever! Unless the zoo management has a change of mind.
