A giant leap in frog species recovery - AustraliaWide - ABC

Quote:
Frog species are dying off at a rate not seen since the extinction of dinosaurs, according to conservationists. In an attempt to reverse the trend a number of Australian zoos are joining more than 1000 zoos worldwide to set up a massive breeding program. Habitat loss is a major reason for the decline, but more recently an amphibian fungus has been particularly destructive. Of the 220 frog species in Australia, eight have been lost already and another 47 are considered endangered or vulnerable.
