Marwell Okapi birth

The house was still closed today - but I could read the 'new birth' sign through the glass.

It read 'Kibibi - female calf born 2nd June 2008 to Zukisa & Isiro'

Isn't Kibibi also the name of Rotterdam's new calf?

Affirmative. It is rather confusing that both zoos named their female (praise be to the genetics of the entire EEP breeding season 2008 to date) Kibibi.

Kibibi of Blijdorp Zoo was born 6/3/2008.
Kibibi of Marwell fame was born 2/6/2008.

But, yep ... you are right ... it is rather awkward!

Cheers,

Jelle

House was still closed but I could see the calf through the glass. Watched it suckling strongly from the mother.

The 2nd pregnant female they are not sure what is happening at present.

and hopefully a second female at Marwell, along with an imminent birth at London, so with a little luck we could be looking at 8 births this year in Europe.
