They told me they aren't sure if she is still pregnant or not- she definately tested pregnant originally but is now just about over the gestation time since her last mating so they are very concerned.

Neither Banguru nor Kamba could have had any breeding experience when they came to Copenhagen, since they are too young. I'm not sure about Nero though...
Keeper say the same thing as i did (she is tolerate him in her enclosure, nothing more than that.)
And no, Camilla in not pregnant.

So it seems like rejected male number 4.

No, Kamba lives with Stanley, he came from Stuttgart (on 27-02-2008).

Stanley; born on 23-01-2007 Stuttgart, parents are Xano + Epena.

I think she needs a young male. She likes them better then the old ones (can't blame her,Tom is not a pretty boy anymore )

You are totally wrong there. She needs an experienced breeding male.

I suspect that the time is nigh that the EEP okapi management must seriously consider AI attempts with her in order to have any offspring from her. We have already lost the Wuppertal valuable female, no point in losing Camilla too (without any offspring by her).

Otherwise, I feel she is a no-no-no-no-no (I have another headache whenever I see one ... male)!

I can only tell from experience that she was in love with our younger male Dayo. They where all over eachother all the time. But they only had a few weeks together. But you are right..she should move to a other zoo, to try a new male (but i don't see this happen very soon)

Clarification: I was talking of Kibibi's remarks here.

Kibibi later stated that Camilla was all over young Dayo ...!
Any potential pairing in there?

Despite the fact that, as we know, mature & experienced breeding males are usually the best bet for successful mating, especially with inexperienced females, there are some situations where a female prefers a different, less experienced male. I'm not just talking Okapi's here.

At Howletts, one female gorilla, Kabinda(now at Beauval Zoo in France) would not let the breeding silverback Bitam mate her- but she finally became pregnant when Bitam's son 'Biju' also in the group, became fertile....

In the case of this Copenhagen Okapi, she has been tried with several partners but has shown interest with only one. So he could be the best bet for mating with her.

If she did shown interest in one,why did they moved her? And which male was that?

Yes I did. If she won't be mated by the many times proven Tom, maybe Dayo is the partner they should persevere with- or are they related?

Camilla is of SSP born parentage and has only a minute Antwerpen bloodline in her, the rest is true wild borns from the SSP breeding lineages. In perspective, she is the only surviving SSP contribution in the EEP and thus very important to the breeding programme. It is imperative that she breed.
